Te Aroha College is very much a community focused school. In recent years there has been an emphasis on developing strong links with the community and building some key relationships to help support the college. We are proud to have multi-generational families as a core group of our school make up and welcome those new families and students to our school. We welcome parent and community involvement across all areas of the school.

As we continue to grow, we want our students to have a range of experiences and feel a deep sense of belonging to the school. They can do this by getting involved in all aspects of school life. There are many opportunities for our students.

We have been working on developing a positive school culture making sure that we create a safe physical and emotional environment for all of our students and staff.  We also want to build a stronger culture of learning in the classroom to allow all our students to feel success and excel - at all levels of the curriculum and through NCEA.

Our graduate profile clearly shows a pathway of personal growth and development.

In terms of outcomes, I have one simple aim for all of our students - NCEA Level 2 is the minimum qualification that students should aspire to and ideally at Merit or Excellence. NCEA Level 2 has become so important for our students.

At Year 11, Level 1 provides the pathway and learning experiences needed to do well at Level 2. Year 13, in the students' last year at school, is about personal growth and leadership, giving back to the school and ensuring they have all they need for the next phase of their life. It is a time to really enjoy all that it means to be a Year 13 student at Te Aroha College.

This is a great school; we enjoy our work and love seeing our students grow and develop throughout their time at Te Aroha College as they start their journey towards adulthood.
