Graduate Profile

Graduate Profile

This new graduate profile provides a clear pathway for our students This to help them to develop the necessary skills to be successful in life during and after their time at Te Aroha College.

As we develop and grow the school culture at Te Aroha College, we continue to develop and formalise our expectations and aspirations for our students. We are really pleased and optimistic that this graduate profile will help provide the structure and guidance for our students as they progress through the school.

Developed by Year 11 Dean Mrs Ericsson and Year 9 Dean Whaea Arleen McLaren towards the end of last year, each year level has a set of descriptors for students to focus on.

At each year level, there are six areas of focus. These are academic and learning, cultural contribution, communication skills, leading in the community and at school, developing a career pathway and the importance of being well-rounded citizens.

As our students complete their final year and enter the "Graduate" phase there are set criteria that must be completed to be considered a Graduate. Alongside this we are really excited to announce the creation of the Te Aroha Scholar Award. This award will recognise the students that have managed to obtain all of the set criteria for 2025 as part of their graduate profile. More will be shared about this award to the next few weeks.

We see this as another way to help our students to build on their strengths and help them set realistic and challenging goals as they transition from young teenagers towards their initial steps into adulthood.
