Year 9 Maths

Year 9 Maths - Mathematicas - Curriculum - Te Aroha College

In Year 9 students are primarily working at levels 4 and 5 of the New Zealand Curriculum document. The 3 strands of Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics are covered during the year.

Emphasis at Year 9 is placed upon improving number knowledge, sense and operations. Number involves calculating and estimating, using appropriate mental, written, or machine calculation methods in flexible ways. It also involves knowing when it is appropriate to use estimation and being able to discern whether results are valid.

Throughout the year students are actively engaged in solving real and relevant problems in a variety of contexts.
