Calculus NCEA Level Three

Calculus NCEA Level Three - Mathematics - Curriculum - Te Aroha College

Calculus is a central branch of mathematics, developed from algebra and geometry. It is built around two major complementary ideas, both of which have clear geometric meaning: rate of change and area.

Mathematics with Calculus is a gateway to other, more advanced courses in mathematics devoted to the study of functions and limits, broadly called mathematical analysis. Calculus depends not only on algebraic and geometric thinking, but on further ideas that were developed systematically from the seventeenth century onwards.

Calculus has widespread applications in science, economics, and engineering and can solve many problems.
